M11 Draft BR Vamps Tons of fun

I really didn't do the best draft but I wanted to show a fun theme deck in M11 that you can draft very easily no matter what draft. It is Black Red speed Vampires. The main cards that you need in this deck are Vampires, Act of Treason, and Reassembling Skeleton. Since the skeleton is an uncommon you will end up drafting them before you really would like to. If you don't they will be taken by Green/Black Ramp decks as an efficient blocker.

Going into the draft I wanted to draft a White/Red control deck for some reason. I have liked the White/Blue manowar fast flyer deck but it is by far the most common archetype. The second most common is green white. It is also very strong and has killed me on occasion.

The main problem that I see with these 2 archetypes is that they are drafted so often that it is hard to get the right cards. If you go with a Doran Ramp deck you will have more success giving you green for cultivate etc and black and white for removal and more bombs. (Black Green and White have the efficient bombs in this format).

The good thing about drafting the red black vampire deck is that you have stable removal and some good aggression.

I went 3-0

I'll edit and give my decklist later. Have to do school stuff.

was really disappointed with this pool at first because the rares were just so bad! 2x Leyline, 2x Land, Elvish Archdruid and Camptivating Vampire.

fling vs. seer

Fling is decent, it can serve multiple uses. But Seer can force the wins to improve the overall quality.
And I've drafted over and over again since this article and it sure feels like a complete aberration

Lol.. I haven't drafted it

Lol.. I haven't drafted it enough. Let me try tonight.

I'm in the second round of a draft that was originally going to be a cultivate type of draft when I picked Birds and Rangerperson, etc. But I picked 2 vamps and 3 seers later which was amazing because the whole draft fell apart BAD.
I just one my first match on the back of seer and vamp+ 1 skeleton

I really like Fling more than the Seer. It combos with Vampires and It can be used without much else. To be honest i'm leaning more towards the GBr vampire deck. It doesn't need skeletons etc to be strong and you can make it many different ways.

Is this draft an aberration?

Are these packs the norm in your drafts, or is this an absolutely ideal setup for your lesson?

This is pretty normal. I

This is pretty normal. I haven't drafted that deck in my last 2 drafts but I still love it a lot. Also Black Green Vampires but its not as good.. Its more a Green Black deck with a splash for threaten. I'm posting up my most common draft archetype today. It is a GW Aggro deck and I just so happened to get a lucky MVP sword

MInd Rot

Mind Rot + Specter sucka!

I agree with the Seer as well, that's the right call there I'm pretty sure.

Pretty sweet

Yeah, I've wanted to draft the Vampire/Treason deck. Such an amazing combo, makes all those mediocre Treasons into Lava Axe + Death Blade. I definitely would have grabbed a Seer or two. Gives you redundancy and digs for the necessary parts. Getting a Reassembling Skeleton probably takes some luck too, but he is so crucial. Skeleton is so amazing with either sac outlet. I would have first picked the Fireball thinking I would splash it until all that sweet red flowed then making the switch. I also would have taken the Mind Contorl since it is one of the best limited cards in the set and getting it passed to you first pack is huge. Jumping to black seemed sudden but really worked out nicely. I'm not a fan of Diminish at all, it is like a horrible Smite.

lol

All of them o.O. I 3 vamps and 4 acts.. It worked well. I almost lost one game to a bad draw mulligan but other than that it was pretty good. With 3 vamps you really shouldn't need the bad seer but he is always an option. I went against a deck with a lot of flyers and just slaughtered him. It is good to have a draw that is a vampire and 2 acts.. and then just finish them.

Pretty funny...I bet this deck frustrated some opponents

I would be really tempted to take Fireball pick 1, and would have probably taken it over the flier because it's great with cultivate. 2nd pick I probably would take mind control because the guy to your left took some other uncommon over it and will be hooking blue up. Pick 3 I take bolt. Pick 4 I like taking berserker and cutting red after taking fireball and bolt because we already know the guy on our left isn't blue and we still get pack 3 from him. I just think you send weird signals by passing fireball and mind control, then take lightning bolt followed by diminish.

After pack 1 I would have had:
1x Fireball
1x Mind Control
1x Lightning Bolt
2x Vulshok Berserker
2x Act of treason
1x Gargoyle Sentinel
1x Bloodthrone Vampire
1x Foresee
1x Mind Rot (I got wrecked by this today btw)
1x Viscera Seer (Might be good with multiple acts and skeletons for that matter)
1x Lava Axe

This leaves you lots of options to good R/B or R/U rather than mess around with that white at the beginning. Wow, after pack two your black red is sick. All in all that is a ridiculous deck! How many blood thrones and act of treason did you play??
